It's out in theaters Wednesday: "Ollie," Antoine Besse's first film about the world of skateboarding with Théo Christine.

At 13, Pierre (Kristen Billon) returns to live on his father's farm after his mother's sudden death. Bullied at school, he takes refuge in his passion: skateboarding. He meets Bertrand (Théo Christine), an outsider who hides a past as a former skateboarder, and who takes him under his wing. Together, they attempt to rebuild their lives.

Dive into the world of amateur skateboarding

Simple, classic, but honest. This is how Antoine Besse's first feature film could be defined. The new director strives to faithfully transcribe the torments of a teenager searching for his place in this world. His relationship with Bertrand, played by Théo Christine, in a rather unexpected role, carries the film. Between these two boys, a complex (but not ambiguous) friendship is formed, each managing to find through contact with the other the strength to overcome the challenges that stand in their way. Beyond the dramatic stakes, Ollie has the merit of immersing the viewer in the world of amateur skateboarding, rarely represented on the big screen. It's an opportunity to discover some behind-the-scenes of the street/urban scene and to witness a handful of rather spectacular tricks. C. Cop.
